I. Rules and Etiquette

Materia Magica has a large player base, and to maintain order, requires a number of rules. You will be held responsible for knowing and abiding by the Rules of Play.

However, the most important rules are the general rules of etiquette. You must remember that the other characters are also human beings and thus expect a level of respect.

Please avoid shouting. Using all UPPER CASE letters in a communication signifies shouting, for example, "PLEASE HELP ME IM LOST". Avoid using all capital letters except for occasional emphasis, as it is seen as offensive and rude.

Most areas in Materia Magica have a Donation Room, where unneeded items may be sent for use by other players. Sacrificing or selling these items is dishonorable and an abuse of other's charity.

Certain non-player characters (NPCs) in Alyria are "wimpy" and will flee from combat with players. While it is not illegal to attack a hurt NPC while another player is trying to chase it down, it is very rude and disrespectful. Looting the corpse of another's kill is theft.

Basically, by treating others with respect and courtesy, you will usually receive the same in kind. Remember, the human interaction that takes place is what makes online games enjoyable.
