DESCRIPTION
** THIS FEATURE IS IN BETA - PLEASE REPORT ANY ISSUES,
QUESTIONS, OR CONCERNS TO admin@ingenii.com - As this
feature is being implemented, select housing areas will be
made available for building, and existing homes will be
be made able to use the BUILD command to edit the home.
Currently only the Rune Estates East, in the Towne of Rune,
has lots available for building, on Kitchener Lane. No existing
homes are currently retrofitted for the BUILD system yet.
Existing homes in this area have yet to be converted, but new lots
may be purchased and homes built there. Currently only player-
homes may be purchased and built. Clanhalls will be available
for editing using this system soon. **
The BUILD command allows the Adventurer to create their own domicile,
clanhall, or clan alliance hall from the ground up. These locations
can usually be RECALLed to (the Adventurer is teleported there)
by using the RECALL command.
The building created using the BUILD command can be a reflection
of the Adventurer's taste and style, or it can be an exploration
of something the Adventurer has always wanted to see in the world
of Alyria.
Building is commenced through the use of Building Points. Building
Points are a way of condensing the magic, materials, and time required
to build a home, add rooms, change room configurations, etc., down
to a simple unit.
Building Points can be obtained as rewards for certain quests
or discoveries within the Alyrian realm. Vouchers that grant Building
Points can be purchased through the use of Reward Units from the Van
Pelt emporiums. These Vouchers can also be traded between Adventurers
for other in-game items.
Lots and homes that are available for sale will show up in the
room description as "Available Construction Lots/Homes" and the
direction in which the lot or home lies from the current room.
Lots will also appear as a green dollar sign in the room description
compass, if it is displayed. You can find out information as to what
homes/lots are available in your current location by typing BUILD
INFO LOT.
All homes are subject to review and editing or edit suggestions by
the Immortals, for appropriate content, language, and so forth. When
building your home please be courteous to your fellow players in your
description choice.
BUILD DEFINITIONS
Directions
Where <direction> is mentioned in the syntax information to follow,
direction can be any one of the cardinal or ordinal directions, as well
as "up" or "down".
Use of Quotes or Apostrophes for Multi-Word Phrases/Arguments
When specifying room names, home titles, passphrases, or any argument
that has spaces in it, you need to enclose it in quotes. If the
argument itself has a quote or apostrophe in it, you need to enclose
it in quotes or apostrophes other than the ones used in the argument.
If the argument is just one word and has no spaces or apostrophes
or quotes, you do not need to enclose it in quotes.
A few examples:
build set home title "Snordly's Audience Hall"
build set home title Daggerdeaux
build set room name 'The "Fearsome Antechamber" of Lilacs'
build set door openpassphrase east 'is a nod as good as a wink'
build set home title 'This Home Title Has Spaces'
Home Titles
Home titles are shown when you enter the home, as well as in your
RECALL information. They are cosmetic and should reflect the nature
of your home, e.g., "Snordly's Audience Hall", "Flork's Dilapidated
Hut". Home titles cannot contain color codes or most punctuation,
and must be from 3 to 60 characters long.
Room Labels
Room labels are used to distinguish between different rooms in the
home. They must be 2 - 25 characters long, cannot contain spaces
or most punctuation (although underscores and dashes are fine, as
long as the label does not start with an underscore). Room labels are
not shown to anyone but the owner of the home, and are used for
room reference purposes only.
Room Names
Room names must be from 2 to 55 characters long, cannot contain
color codes, cannot contain inappropriate language, and cannot
contain many unusual punctuation characters.
Room Descriptions
Room descriptions must be between 60 to 4000 characters long,
cannot contain inappropriate language, cannot have more than 12
color codes, cannot contain certain reserved words or phrases,
cannot begin with an underscore, and if color codes are used,
they must be terminated at the end of the description with the
reset color code.
Door Names
Door names are used to reference a door, e.g., "stone", "panel".
Door names must be from 3 to 30 characters long, cannot contain
spaces (they should be all one word, not a phrase), cannot contain
color codes, cannot contain inappropriate language, and cannot
contain punctuation characters. If unspecified, a door's name
is set to "door". When the door flag "window" is toggled, if the
door name was "door" previously, the door name will be automatically
changed to "window".
Door Passphrases
Door passphrases must be from 5 to 80 characters long, cannot contain
color codes and some punctuation characters, and cannot contain
inappropriate language.
Orphaned Rooms
If you create a room that is orphaned, in that you have no available
path to the front door of the home, you will be automatically recalled
to the entrance room of the home as a safety feature, as will any
guests you may have in the home at that time. Intentionally imprisoning
or stranding players or NPCs in your home is not allowed.
COMMAND HELP and SYNTAX
BUILD INFO
The BUILD INFO command is used to get information about available lots
or information about the home you are in, if you are the owner. With no
argument, BUILD INFO shows basic information about all your homes and
their locations (if available), and whether or not they can be managed
using the BUILD command.
BUILD INFO LOT [<direction>]
This command shows information about all adjacent, available home lots
if no direction is specified, or information about the available home
lot in <direction>, if the direction is specified. This will display
how many building points the lot or home costs, and if it is for sale.
BUILD INFO ROOMS
Displays information about all the rooms in the home in which you are
standing.
BUILD INFO ROOM [<label> or <direction>]
Displays information about the room in <direction> or matching <label>.
BUILD INFO KEYS
Displays information about the home keys that have been issued for this
home, and the registered owner of the keys. The owner listed may not be
the player who currently possesses the key. Keys listed on this list
may be disabled using the BUILD DELETE KEY command. There must be at
least one key listed for the home.
BUILD BUY LOT <direction>
[9,000 Building Points, but may vary depending on location]
To buy a lot and build a home, you must be in a room that has adjacent
lots available. You can see the cost of the lot in building points by
using the BUILD INFO LOT command.
When purchased, you will be debited the building points and a 1-room
home will be built for you on the lot, by the building imps. You will
receive the key to the front door and can then enter the home and set
things the way you like them. The home will appear on your RECALL list
at this point, as well.
BUILD BUY HOME [<direction>]
[Gold Pieces Cost Varies]
To buy a pre-made home, you will use gold pieces instead of building
points. You must be in a room that has an adjacent home for sale, or
in the home itself. You can see the cost of the home in gold by
using the BUILD INFO LOT command.
When purchased, you will be debited the gold fee and you will become
owner of the home. The home will, at this point, appear on your RECALL
list as well.
BUILD ADD ROOM <direction> <label>
[750 Building Points]
Adds a new room in <direction> with the room label <label>. You cannot
add a room in a direction if there already is a room in that direction
- the exit must be free and clear.
BUILD ADD LINK <direction> <label>
[75 Building Points]
Creates a link (also called an exit) between the current room and
the room specified by <label>, in <direction>. A link cannot already exist
between the two rooms, and rooms cannot link to themselves.
BUILD ADD DOOR <direction> <name>
[100 Building Points]
Creates a door in the exit in the specified <direction>. An exit (link)
must exist in <direction> in order to create a door.
BUILD ADD KEY <player name>
[125 Building Points]
Creates a key that is linked to your home, and will lock/unlock all doors
in your home. The <player name> can be any valid player name, but it should
be used to record who you give the key to.
BUILD DELETE DOOR <direction>
[25 Building Points]
Deletes the door in <direction>, if one exists.
BUILD DELETE LINK <direction>
[35 Building Points]
Deletes the link between rooms in <direction>, if one exists. Any
orphaned home visitors will be returned to the home's RECALL room.
BUILD DELETE ROOM <direction>
[75 Building Points]
Deletes the room in <direction>. Please note that ANY ITEMS in the room
will be moved to the RECALL ROOM for the home. Any orphaned home visitors
will be returned to the RECALL room. The entry room to the home may not
be deleted, nor may the current room set as the RECALL room.
BUILD DELETE KEY <#>
[50 Building Points]
Deletes the key specified by <#> (The number is obtained via HOME INFO
KEYS). Once deleted from the home's key ring, it will not work to
lock/unlock any rooms within the home.
BUILD SET HOME TITLE <new title>
[100 Building Points]
Sets the home title to <new title>. This is the name of the home that is
shown whenever you or anyone else enters the home via recall or on foot.
BUILD SET ROOM LABEL <new label>
[10 Building Points]
Changes the label for the current room to <new label>. This label is used
to reference the room via the BUILD commands and is not displayed to anyone
except the home owner. It can be viewed with HOME INFO ROOM or HOME INFO
ROOMS.
BUILD SET ROOM NAME '<new room name>'
[35 Building Points]
Changes the room name to '<new room name>'. The new room name must be
enclosed in quotes.
BUILD SET ROOM FLAG [<room flag name>]
[Building Point Cost Varies]
Without an argument, displays the room flags available and the building
point cost for each.
With an argument, toggles the room flag <room flag name> ON or OFF.
BUILD SET ROOM SECTOR [<sector name>]
[Building Point Cost Varies]
Without an argument, displays the room sectors available and the building
point cost for each.
With an argument, changes the room sector to <sector name>. Different
sectors have different qualities. Some can be damaging, so choose with
caution.
BUILD SET ROOM DESCRIPTION [<'commit'>]
[65 Building Points]
Changes the description for the room. This command will put you in the
game's text editor (also used via the WRITE command, among others). From
there you may edit and change the room description as you see fit.
You may re-enter the editor as often as you like. The room description
will not be changed until you finish editing and issue the
BUILD SET ROOM DESCRIPTION COMMIT command. At that point the description
will be validated, and if it passes validation, you will be charged
the appropriate number of building points.
BUILD SET ROOM KEYWORD <keyword name>
[50 Building Points]
Keywords are used to enhance description in the room. When you define a
keyword via this command, you are put into the game's text editor where
you can edit the description of the keyword. This is what will be displayed
when someone LOOKs at the keyword. The keyword should be mentioned in the
room's description so people know to look at it.
Using BUILD SET KEYWORD <keyword name> on an existing keyword will allow
you to edit that keyword instead of creating a new one. Keywords are
specific to the room in which they are defined.
BUILD SET ROOM LEVEL <min level> <max level>
[150 Building Points]
Sets the minimum and maximum level of the room. Be careful not to set the
level range so you cannot enter the room!
BUILD SET ROOM SIZE [<size name>]
[Building Point Cost Varies]
Without an argument, this command will display a list of room sizes
and the building point cost for each.
With an argument, this command allows you to change the room size. This
is mostly a cosmetic setting, but it does affect how much stamina it takes
to move through the room.
BUILD SET ROOM SHAPE [<shape name>]
[Building Point Cost Varies]
Without an argument, this command will display a list of room shapes
and the building point cost for each.
With an argument, this command allows you to change the room shape. This
is a cosmetic setting.
BUILD SET ROOM RECALL
[125 Building Points]
Sets the current room as the home's RECALL room. This is the room that
you will appear in if you RECALL into the home. The home's RECALL room may
not be deleted (at least, while it is set as the recall room).
BUILD SET EXIT TYPE <direction> [<exit type name>]
[Building Point Cost Varies]
Sets the exit type in <direction>. Using this command without specifying
an exit type will list the available exit types, as well as the building
point cost for each.
BUILD SET EXIT FLAG <direction> [<exit flag name>]
[Building Point Cost Varies]
Toggles an exit flag in <direction> ON or OFF. Using this command without
specifying an exit flag will list the available exit flags, as well as the
building point cost for each.
BUILD SET DOOR FLAG <direction> [<door flag name>]
[Building Point Cost Varies]
Toggles a door flag on the door in <direction> ON or OFF. Using this command
without specifying a door flag will list the available door flags, as well
as the building point cost for each.
BUILD SET DOOR NAME <direction> <door name>
[50 Building Points]
Sets the door name for the door in <direction>. This is the keyword used to
reference the door.
BUILD SET DOOR KEY <direction>
[50 Building Points]
Toggles the door in <direction>'s key requirement. If ON, you will need
an active home key (listed on the home's keyring) to unlock/lock the door.
BUILD SET DOOR MATERIAL <direction> [<material name>]
[Building Point Cost Varies]
Sets the material on the door in <direction>. Using this command without
specifying a door material will list the available door materials, as well
as the building point cost for each.
BUILD SET DOOR OPENPASSPHRASE <direction> <'passphrase' or 'none'>
[300 Building Points]
Sets the passphrase required to unlock the door (if locked) in <direction>.
If set, the passphrase must be spoken aloud (using the SAY command) in order
to unlock the door. This will allow you to unlock doors without using a key,
but if set, a key can still be used. You must enclose a multi-word passphrase
in quotes.
Specifying 'none' as the passphrase will clear the door's open passphrase.
BUILD SET DOOR CLOSEPASSPHRASE <direction> <'passphrase' or 'none'>
[300 Building Points]
Sets the passphrase required to lock the door (if unlocked) in <direction>.
If set, the passphrase must be spoken aloud (using the SAY command) in order
to lock the door. This will allow you to lock doors without using a key, but
if set, a key can still be used. You must enclose a multi-word passphrase
in quotes.
Specifying 'none' as the passphrase will clear the door's close passphrase.
