identify - provides information about an item

SYNOPSIS
cast identify <object>

DESCRIPTION
This spell allows the caster to tap into the collective knowledge of the
universe through the astral plane, and can provide a detailed description
of an item. The object being studied must be in the inventory of the
caster for the spell to be effective.

When you IDENTIFY an object, you will see a description similar to the
following, that provides detailed information about it.

|BItem '|wa phoenix feather quill|B' is type|w writing-instrument|B, alignment|w 500|B,
made of|w organic|B, has keywords '|wquill phoenix feather|B'.
This item weighs|w 0|B stones and|w 4|B pebbles, and is valued at |w1,125|B gp.
This level|w 45|B item has the attributes:|w identified permanent wont-fuse
will-float no-steal|B
A phoenix feather quill is in excellent condition.
There are about|w 1|B ounces of ink remaining.

|wThis quill has been crafted from a large, red, phoenix feather that seems
to flow through shades of red as if it were a flame. Despite its fiery
appearance, the feather is cool to the touch and is not giving off any heat.
The quill appears to have been enchanted to provide an endless amount of
red-tinted ink, for use in writing letters and books. |x

Although many believe this spell useless if you have lore, identify can be useful in identifying items that are higher level than you or in making sure that something is truly unidentifiable.

For novices who can't afford to buy scrolls to identify items: Balthazaar in Rune will identify items for you until you're level 60!
