shield block
DESCRIPTION
This skill allows a warrior to use their shield to greater effect than
would normally be expected. Instead of merely making them harder to hit,
a properly-trained combatant can use a shield to block incoming attacks
outright. However, this will cause the shield to be damaged over time,
and may allow opponents with axes to break through the shield.
Shield block, when practiced well, may also be used to block offensive
projectile spells, such as fireball and lightning bolt.
REQUIREMENTS
* You must be a Priest, Rogue, Barbarian, Paladin, Shaman, Cavalier or
Valkyrie in order to make use of this skill.
* In order to practice this skill you must have achieved at least 25%
Defense Complexity Comprehension.
* This skill may not be used while you are behind another character in
your formation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
* This defense must be enabled with the COMBAT DEFENSE command.

You must be wearing a shield.
A useful defense if your opponent is wielding a weapon.
You can also block certain spells, such as lightning and fireballs.
