SET (ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES)

NAME
set - turns or toggles an environment setting on or off

SYNOPSIS
set <environment option> <'on', 'off', or 'toggle'>

DESCRIPTION
SET lets you toggle environment settings that are used to customize
how the game appears to you, among other things. Typing SET with
no arguments will show your current settings.

OPTIONS
These are a listing of the settings that can be changed:

AUTOCLEAR   clears the screen before showing room descriptions or maps
AUTOLOOT   take all equipment and gold from your kills
AUTOSAC   sacrifice dead monsters' corpses
AUTOSPLIT   split up gold from combat among your group members
AUTOMAP   displays area terrain map, if one exists for that location
AUTOMAIL   when a text message is sent to you using the I-MAIL system, and
       you have a valid email address specified, and the sender is
       also allowing AUTOMAIL, this option will send a copy of the
       I-MAIL to your email address, using the sender's email
       address in the "reply-to" field.
AUTONOURISH automatically eats food and drinks from water (or blood)
       skins in your inventory, when hungry - ignores poisoned items
BLOCK_SIZE  lowers or raises the amount of data that the server sends
       to you at once. Use a lower settings to correct connection
       problems, or higher settings if you have no connection
       problems. The default is 4096 - lower settings may make
       the game response slower but it may keep bad links from being
       disconnected as well
BRIEF     will not show full room descriptions unless requested via
       the 'look' command
CHALLENGE   whether or not you wish to receive arena challenge requests
       sent by other players
COLOR     whether or not you wish to view ANSI color codes
COMPACT   reduces amount of empty lines sent to your screen
COMPASS   displays an exit compass along with the room description;
       turning this off may be useful for those with text-to-speech
       readers
EXPIRE-WARNING  whether or not you wish to be warned about items that have
         expiration dates, when those dates are approaching - warnings
         occur during signons and signouts
EXTENDED-PROMPT whether or not you wish to receive the full game prompt
         display that shows hit points, spell points, and stamina;
         turning this off may be useful for those with text-to-speech
         readers
MOUNTS-FOLLOW-PATHS whether or not mounts will attempt to follow paths
           during running, walking, or galloping (see HELP MOUNT)
NOTIFY    lets you know when players on your notify list sign on or off
NOVICE    lets you turn command completion and some other settings
       that can be dangerous for inexperienced players on or off;
       see COMMANDS for a complete list of commands
PAGE_LENGTH sets the number of lines of text sent to your screen at once
       before automatic pagination is activated. The default is 22;
       the minimum is 10 and the maximum is 80 lines sent at once
PAGING    whether or not you wish to receive pages sent by the PAGE command
PERSONAL-FILTER  whether or not you wish to have SAYTOs, TELLs, and WHISPERs
          sent to your character checked for inappropriate content and
          denied if they fail that criteria.
QUIET     activates quiet mode. This mode shuts out most of the global
       channels and private TELLs. About the only communication you will
       see are PAGES, EMOTEs and SAYs in your current location
REFUSE-ITEMS you will no longer be able to be given items by players
REFUSE-SUMMON you will not be able to be summoned by other players
SHOW-COLOR-ALTERNATIVES  display information that is normally displayed
       only through color, such as dark rooms, PK rooms, (these
       will not display on the room compass, but instead will
       display on the line that is enabled with SHOW-EXITS) among
       others, in non-colored descriptive text.
SHOW-EXITS  if the exit compass is turned off you will see a separate line
       listing out the visible exits for the current room; turning this
       on may be useful for those with text-to-speech readers
SHOW-NPC-TITLES whether or not you will see NPCs' titles when you LOOK
       NPC titles are tags that designate special NPC functions
       such as [Shop] or [Train].
SHOW-TITLES whether or not you will see other players' titles when you LOOK
