Unbeliever's Midnight Equipment Guide

After a long arduous journey into the Druidic town of Xaventry, your curiosity strikes and you decide to journey north along the Shadow Road. Your journey comes to an end at the edge of an immaculate forest. As you are midway through your second class, you feel confident about going in.

You arrive at the bottom of the tree, and are now inside the Mandrake Woods. You turn white with fear at the amount of trolls infesting these woods. They don't seem too happy. It might be wise to wear a form of invisibility so that the trolls won't see you.

Traveling south across the bridge, you arrive at the base of a large castle. The castle is shrouded by darkness. Confident in yourself, you climb your way up the mountain. As you reach the entrance, your adrenaline is peaking from the hard climb as falling boulders surround you.

The master of the Shadowguild runs this castle, and it is quite the difficult task to find him. His castle is littered with assassins and shadowy thieves, all of which have no problem killing you. Etchings on the wall say that there is no key for the door to the Guildmaster. You head north and around the circle but come up to the door that's locked. How are you supposed to get in then?

The master of the Shadowguild is about an even six feet tall, and is probably in his mid-fifties judging from the gray in his hair. However, despite his age he looks to be in great physical health. His strength and balance are easily detectable in the grace and manner by which he moves. This lean man would make a very dangerous opponent. His hard brown eyes examine you as you enter, sizing up your strength.

He keeps an oath that those that will defeat him will obtain some equipment that will provide great strength.

  • A Midnight Breastplate: Level 70, wearable at Level 65 [Worn on torso]
  • A Set of Midnight Leggings: Level 70, wearable at Level 65 [Worn on legs]
  • A Pair of Midnight Gauntlets: Level 70, wearable at Level 65 [Worn on hands]

If you search around the castle, you will find many of the Guildmaster's minions. All assassins in the castle report to their leader the master assassin. They wield some mighty daggers that could come in handy for late 1st classers and early 2nd classers. The shadows also have mists that will only be revealed if you find the missing brick in the wall. This will lead you to a hidden area where you can find a ring that brings much life and vigor.

  • A Master Assassin's Dagger: Level 62, wearable at Level 57 [Wielded as weapon]
  • An Assassin's Dagger: Level 50, wearable at level 55 [Wielded as weapon]
  • The Ring of Fortitude: Level 60, wearable at level 55 [Worn on finger]

Detailed Information on Equipment found in Shadow Castle

A Midnight Breastplate

This black breastplate is as dark as a moonless midnight. It seems to glint with hints of malice and evil when even the softest of light reflects off of it. You touch the steel plate and instantly recoil, it is freezing cold. You wonder how anyone could wear such an item without receiving icy burns all over their body.

Weight: 15 pebble(s)
Alignment: -500
Armor resistance is 10 pierce, 9 bash, 8 slash, and 6 exotic.

Commentary: Accuracy +6 is amazing. Accuracy is very important early because of low weapon complexity percentages. I would highly advise people to wear these from about level 65-90 or so.

A Set of Midnight Leggings

These black leggings are as dark as a moonless midnight. They seem to glint with hints of malice and evil when even the softest of light reflects off of them. A Pair of Midnight Gauntlets

These black gauntlets are as dark as a moonless midnight. They seem to glint with hints of malice and evil when even the softest of light reflects off of them. Commentary: These Gauntlets are great battle EQ, the +3 strength is great for the weight the items are. You will be able to carry 3 stones more with the +3 strength. AR is pretty good for the level.

A Master Assassin's Dagger

The edge of this blackened blade shimmers softly in the light. It feels unnaturally cold to the touch, a cold similar to that of an assassin's soul. The weapon appears to be a formidable one, and you have no doubt that this blade would work well for burying in the back of an unsuspecting foe.

An Assassin's Dagger

This small steel dagger seems to be designed exactly with an assassin in mind. Its shape and design seem to make it better for stabbing than the average dagger. You can see the faint shimmer of some deadly toxin coating the blade. You are glad you are not on the receiving end of this dagger.

Material: steel
Weight: 3 pebble(s)
Weapon type is dagger, which does 92 points of type pierce damage, accuracy 14.

Commentary: This does a little less damage when used, due to the new weight damage bonuses. Another good backstab dagger, as well as practical everyday usage. Dagger is easy to obtain.

The Ring of Fortitude

This modest cast iron ring is ugly and unadorned at first glance. However, when you examine it closer, the ring appears to flow with the energy of vitality and health. Simply wearing this ring upon your finger seems to fill you with vigor, you feel stronger and more sure of yourself, ready to face the terrors lurking within the castle.

Cost: 1,500 gold pieces
Material: iron
Weight: 4 pebble(s)
Armor resistance is 0 pierce, 0 bash, 0 slash, and 0 exotic.

Commentary: This ring is great for leveling, if you are low on vitality this is an easy way to give you a huge boost before you reach the end of 1st class. This can also assist with HP regen during new moons if you can get up to max vitality.
