Game Clients

The following client links are provided for your convenience. There are many more clients available; this list contains some of the most popular ones. You will need to use a client to connect to Materia Magica, so it is advised you check out several of them for your particular operating system and find which one suits you best. We recommend you start with the Flash Client or the Moongate Java Client as these don't require any download to get going.

MUSHClient

The fastest free MUD client available for Windows, MUSHClient is written in C++ for speed and compact size. Mudlet is a MUD client, designed to take mudding to a new level. It's a new breed of a client on the MUD scene – with an intuitive user interface, a specially designed scripting framework, and a very fast text display. Add to that cross-platform capability, an open-source development model, and you have a very likable MUD client.

Both CMUD and ZMUD are advanced, popular Windows MUD Clients with a ton of features and plugins. CMUD is essentially "ZMUD: The Next Generation", in that it's been rewritten and supports more features (See here for a comparison of the two clients). If you can run it, CMUD is recommended over ZMUD.

BlowTorch is a basic telnet client for the Android platform that supports the following features that people find helpful for playing MUDs. Supports: MCCP Compression, ANSI Color Codes, Aliases, Triggers, Timers, as many custom buttons you can make, and much more.

Atlantis is a Mac-only client specifically designed to aid in playing text adventure games known as MUDs. It is designed from the ground up entirely in Cocoa, and integrates with system services — such as the Mac OS X spellchecker — as much as possible.

Savitar is a telnet-based application for Macintosh computers, with features tailored for connecting to MUDs (Multi-User Dungeons) such as Materia Magica.

Portal is the creation of a company called GameAxle and offers many unique and diverse options.
