SOUND
NAME
sound - information on sound effects
DESCRIPTION
Materia Magica supports MSP and MXP in order to play sound effects.
To hear sound you will need an MSP or MXP-compatible client, such as
Portal or ZMUD, as well as the sounds referenced by the game, which
may be downloaded here:
http://www.materiamagica.com/support/downloads/files?folder=soundpacks
Once you have downloaded the files, unzip them into the appropriate
directory for the client you are using. This information should be
in the documentation that came with your client.
To disable having sound commands sent to you, use the SET SOUND OFF
command. To enable again, use the SET SOUND ON command. Sound is
enabled by default, but you do need to download the sound packs in
order to actually hear the sounds.
For step-by-step information for getting sounds to work in the ZMUD,
MUSHClient, and Portal clients, please see the ZMUD and Portal pages
on the Materia Magica website:
http://www.materiamagica.com/play/game-clients/cmud-and-zmud
http://www.materiamagica.com/play/game-clients/portal
http://www.materiamagica.com/play/game-clients/mushclient
NOTE:
If you are having problems getting the sounds in the above referenced
sound packs to work, it may be because MP3 support is not fully
enabled on your machine. Try downloading the WAV versions of the
sound packs and installing those into the appropriate directory.
The WAV versions of the sound files are around 16MB each, whereas
the MP3 versions are much smaller, so the MP3 versions are preferred
if you can use them.
