MXP (MUD EXTENSION PROTOCOL)
NAME
mxp - a mud client/server protocol for enhancing your in-game experience
DESCRIPTION
Many popular clients support the MUD eXtension Protocol (MXP for short)
developed by Zuggsoft and implemented in ZMUD and CMUD clients. It is
also supported (fully and partially) by other clients, such as MUSHClient.
Materia Magica supports MXP on the server side, so if your client supports
it and you enable it or have it enabled, you should see a message when
you connect (or enable it) that will either say: MXP 0.3 ENABLED,
MXP 0.5 ENABLED, or MXP 1.0 ENABLED. The number is the version of the
protocol that is enabled for you. The version will control what the game
server sends you and what features are enabled.
Some of the MXP features supported by Materia Magica (these may or
may not all be available to you, based on the version of the protocol
your game client supports):
* MXP Sound Effects - Plays sound in-game when certain activities occur.
Materia Magica sound packs can be downloaded from the following
location:
http://www2.materiamagica.com/support/downloads/files?folder=soundpacks
* Special ZMUD/CMUD gauges - These will display bars that have information
on your current hit points, stamina, and spell points, as well as
things like enemy health.
* Clickable NPCs and Objects - You can click on an object to attempt to
TAKE it, or right click for an additional menu of options. You can
click on an NPC or PC to LOOK at them, or you can right click on them
for an additional menu of options.
* Clickable directions/compass - You can click on a direction to move
in that direction.
... and many other enhancements.
