LOOK
NAME
look - look in a direction, or at or in an object, or at a creature
SYNOPSIS
look
look <direction>
look <creature or player name>
look <object name or type>
look #.<object name or type>
look in <container object name or type>
DESCRIPTION
This is a very useful informational command that tells you about the
room or area that you are currently in. You can also look at other
characters, look at objects, look inside objects, and look in a
specific direction to see what's in the adjoining area.
You can also reference NPCs and items using quotes around the
full short description instead of just name keywords. For example,
if the item is called "a wizard's cloak", you can reference it
by typing: look "a wizard's cloak". For an NPC named "a dashing
acrobat", you could reference him by typing: look "a dashing acrobat".
If you see an asterisk (*) before a PC or NPC's brief description
when using LOOK in a room, it means they have a special affect on
them:
* A cyan asterisk indicates they are translucent, affected by a
'pass door' spell.
* A green asterisk indicates they are invisible to others who
cannot detect invisibility (which you obviously can, or you
would not see them).
* A white asterisk indicates they are surrounded by a glowing white
aura, a side effect of the 'sanctuary' spell.
* A red asterisk indicates they are surrounded by a shield of
flames, caused by the 'fireshield' spell.
* A blue asterisk indicates they are surrounded by an electrical
shield, most likely from the 'lightning shroud' spell.
When there are multiple items or NPCs of the same name in the
same location, whether in your inventory or in your room, you
may reference them individually by putting the number of the item
or NPC and a period before the name. (Look <#>.name) For example:
look 5.balrog
look 3.treasure
