MATERIA MAGICA I-MOTION Server v4.3 Updates
DESCRIPTION
The following is a brief overview of some of the many changes and updates
released with the 4.3 update to the I-MOTION game server, as well as links to
message board discussion threads for additional comments and information.
The full game system changelog, which presents a more complete (yet not
exhaustive) list of 4.3 changes, is available at

* Religion: Added religion, a competitive PK-oriented game that occurs every
week or so, and grants powerful new elemental spells. Added several dozen
clergymembers for religions, and hundreds of religious followers for
deities. Some clergymen are located below the Shrine of St. Wisehart in
Lasler. Different deities will grant their followers different deaths when
they pray death. Added the religion channel for automated announcements
regarding what is going on in religious shrines in the Sigil Underground.
Unlike other channels, the Religion channel has a verbosity setting,
"channel religion [brief|normal|verbose]". Added Piety rewards to the
marks of enlightenment, ministry, philanthropy, reincarnation, ablution,
prayer and benevolence. Religious spells may be practiced near the high
priests of Xaventry. 'Who shrines' now works. If more than 85% of the
members of your alliance are in the same religion, you will get a
significant bonus to the power of your religion spells.
Added 'channel faith' for Priests and Shamans who have chosen a religion.

benevolence, channel faith, powers, religious spells, piety, monument,
landslide, megalith, bathe, waterspout, quicksand, air blast, buffet,
air halo, enhanced fireshield, ember carom, lava cloak, illumination,
magnetic field, soul sacrifice.
* Areas: Opened the Sigil Underground, a new wilds map located between the
surface of Alyria and the Underground. It's located beneath Sigil, and has
ten or so pathways down, most located near or in Sigil. The Sigil
Underground contains five areas, as well as five Shrines to the Powers,
which is where religious battles occur. Also opened the Old Amaunet
Clanhall and the villages of Gorth, Dorathon, Naulitas, Muldar Lohk Mulvar,
Glarshak and Shlarksh. Krampus Van Pelt and his temporary RU items are
available in Rune. Numerous wilds-specific objects have been set to work in
the Sigil Underground. Reworked scatters to be more equitable, Fixed some
issues with entrances to the Domain of Arbaces. Players that have not
logged on for a while will be welcomed back and given some temporary,
generic equipment to help them get back on their feet and find old friends.
Improved functionality for digging in some terrains in the Underground,
summons in no-form rooms, healing clerics, certificates of achievement, the
Altar of Gath in Xaventry, dungeon keys in Riga/PG, death insurance and
rocking horses for the Lost and Found. Changed worldgate pairings/times.
Halved the price of Decara lockers. Implemented trading at bankers globally.
Enhanced telescopes to let you see further in the wilds when held.

trading, lockers, perception.
* Skills: Added fifteen new spells for Religions, and a dozen more for NPCs.
Added cursed fog to archons. Increased armor's duration at low levels.
Reduced the level of delay reincarnation on coffin lids from Ice Witch.
Added the 'perception' proficiency, along with making search and dig be
time-based, rather than command-based. Removed the ELEMENTAL spell school,
sorted existing spells into more appropriate schools. Elemental shield will
be largely unchanged. Improved feed and foraging as well as a few psi/witch
spells. Split the slow spell and hinder song into two new ones each, one
of which will remove attack/defense, and one which will slow cast times.
Added skill cooldowns to teleview, delay reincarnation and resurrect.
Replaced bards' wizard eye with a traveling song. Increased the cost of
'delay reincarnation' to 2 astrals.

* Quests & Quest Items: Made QUEST COMPLETE check items you are wearing.
Added a lifespan to daedal scrolls, and prepared Baron Nezak to give out
another round of them. Added a new epic quest to Baron Nezak, as well as a
new quest item and a shortcut to reach him from recall. Added a few new
items to bags of tricks. Tweaked everal epic quests to be easier
(possible), and a new mark of infamy for completing all epics. Made SVRod
be more effective against resisting the damage dealt by a pair of golden-
spurred boots. Tweaked a number of Maldra's quests. Disambiguated a bunch
of identical boulders.
* PK: Increased the efficacy of SVRod against scripted items by 50%.
Shielding traps will no longer be triggered by the person who set them.
Changed Irda's moat slightly. Improved perfect weapons' damage against
people with more than 20 masters, nerfed them against people with fewer.
Expanded the functionality of the bloodseeking orb at the bottom of
Maldra's Keep. Added a top 10 PKers list. To see it, ask Death who the best
PKers are.

* Runs: Overhauled archon masters. Added new items to a few dozen runs.
Fixed the ceremony in Hotel Hello. Added some new items requiring the mark
of Kindness. Added some class-based bonuses to neverwhen equipment. Expanded
special boss loots, and added a religious announcement when the special
bosses are killed. Fixed a bug with the mark of Mediums, and made
timepieces stop decaying in social. Improved loot from PG bosses and the
Nezak's Treasury run. Made bosses that don't drop anything when killed drop
some small consumables. Slightly altered redemption from the darknesses,
scaly sleeves of a green dragon and dragon tear necklaces. Added 4 new
relics.

* Marks: Released the marks of Grace, Ablution, Harassment, Infamy,
Intuition and a few others. Added Piety rewards to the marks of
Enlightenment, Ministry, Philanthropy, Reincarnation, Ablution, Prayer and
Benevolence. Made the mark of Valkyjra easier to get.

* Politics: Fixed a bug with rune gate guards not properly displaying all of
the changes made by mayors. The Mayor of Rune may only make one change per
Alyrian day, but will be allowed to bypass Sathan at night. The Mayor of
Rune may make a proclamation through the Towne Crier by saytoing him a
message. Added the option for the Mayor of Rune to open a passage to the
Sigil Underground for 10 political points, by setting the easternmost room
in the Astarach Preserve to NPK.

* Inns: Doubled the duration that inn rooms last, to 48 Alyrian hours, as
well as adding an Inn in the Sigil Underground.

* Ships: Fixed an issue with whirlpool fights crossing underground/
overworld so that pirate ships should break off attacks if you pass through
the whirlpool.
* Alliances/Invasions: Rewrote alliance stronghold fluxus functionality:
cost decreased from 1000->500; for 1000 you can direct which run is nexused
to.

* UI: Fixed an issue with SHOW-EXITS with SHOW-COLOR-ALTERNATIVES
turned on, where adjacent PK rooms would not be displayed in the exit list
correctly. Fixed some issues with scan not working through windows in some
locations, and some inconsistent applications of exit/door states
throughout varied functionality. Added the Sandstorm weather type. Fixed a
typo with open door. Gave messages to Detect Traps and Disarm Traps when
they work, passively. Added a 'sight impaired mode' question to new
character creation, which will automatically toggle certain environment
settings ON or OFF to help better accommodate players using screen readers.
Removed idle-disconnections in social, clanhalls and homes. Please remove
your tick timers. Holding a sextant will add your coordinates in the wilds
or the coordinates of the area you are in, just before the standard prompt.
Added SCORE HP, SCORE SP, SCORE ST commands, to show hit points, spell
points, and stamina current / maxes by themselves, for sight-impaired
players who have the extended prompt turned off. Updated "PUT" command to
allow you to "put all" into items in your inventory, worn, or the
room, and to reference items by short description (similar to GET or DROP).
Improved 'fill' so you may now fill containers with blood from the ground.
Added command suggestions based on sound, for if you mistype/misspell a game
command. Similar to if you type HELP with an invalid help entry name.
Solitary and Private rooms will now only count the presence of PCs. Changed
SET so it doesn't require you to enter the dashes and underscores in order
to change the commands (useful for players using screen readers). Added
the 'memorize all' command, which will memorize every unmemorized,
unmastered spell in the last spellbook worn. Fixed issue with chat room
flags showing a double flag and not setting correctly. Raised max spell
memorize timer cap to accommodate items such as the amulet of remembrance
at higher levels. Added color alternatives to PK clan display in the clan
list (for those who have the environment setting SHOW-COLOR-ALTERNATIVES
ON). SHOP RESTORE (oil of restoration) no longer removes the item and
replaces it with a new one; instead it resets the item's original affects
and spells, and restores the item's lifespan, condition, and number of
repairs to new (leaves relics alone).
