NAME
diseases - descriptions of the numerous diseases that may be
contracted by players within the world of Alyria
DESCRIPTION
There are a number of different diseases which may be contracted
by denizens of the world of Alyria. The known diseases and a brief
discription of each are outlined as follows:
TARNELE
Contracted from insects, this disease causes the victim to
slowly die a painful death. It is not contagious but is easy
to contract from insects that carry it.
MOON CROUP
The victim's lungs become filled with mucous causing them to
use stamina at twice the normal rate. This disease may be spread
from player to player.
UNDEAD FEVER
A disease contracted from undead monsters, this disease causes
the victim to lose sanity and spell power as the undead forces
sap the player's strength. This disease is neither fatal or
contagious.
BLUE COUGH
A hacking cough that is highly contagious. It is commonly caught
in high altitudes and is so nasty that the victim has problems
in battle. The victim will also have serious difficulty concentrating
enough to cast spells. The cough will eventually run its course.
BELMART
This is a nasty virus that causes terrible boils called pox to
errupt all over the body of the victim. It is contagious, but
not easily contracted. Strength and vitality are reduced, and the
person may find walking difficult.
FINAGE
This fever is a serious fever that strikes feys and sidhes. It
affects their ability to fade, for feys it makes them unable to shift,
and for sidhes they are unable to use glamours. It is unknown if it
is contagious to other races, but studies indicate that it probably
is not.
MENCHAL DISEASE
Menchal Disease affects drows, elves, and half-elves, it causes
the victim to tire easily and makes them unable to move with
their normal speed. It is not contagious or life threatening but it
will not go away unless proper treatment is received.
JOURGA SICKNESS
This disease is normally contracted from wild beasts but may be
contracted from an affected person if they bite you. It causes the
victim to act in a crazed manner, attacking anyone or anything in
a very uncontrolled manner. The victim will stagger about as if
they are highly intoxicated. If left untreated the victim will
die in a matter of days.
LIGHT LUNGS
Light Lungs is a disease that makes breathing very difficult for
the victim. Because of the problems in catching their breath the
victim will be unable to climb and will expend absurd amounts of
stamina in normal movement.
Light Lungs is somewhat contagious, and may be fatal if the victim
is caught in hills, or mountains, and sometimes caverns.
CAVERN SICKNESS
Cavern Sickness is a form of blindness that affects dwarves. It
comes from being underground for days on end and causes the victim
to see things when they do not exist. The person becomes insane from
the disease causing them to lash out at formation members and
themselves with rage. It is not contagious, and is only fatal if
the victim kills themselves in their reduced mental state.
THONNYS
Thonnys is a serious disease that is contagious and fatal if not
treated. It causes the victim to break out in dreadful rashes
and boils, as the disease progresses the skin of the victim literally
melts off. A person who has thonnys so ugly from the disease that
social interaction is not possible except by healers. To be a
thonny is to be cursed and many would rather die.
BOREWORMS
Boreworms are a parasetic infection that enters through the feet
of the victim. The worms feed on their victim causing them to weaken
with every hour of the disease. Because of the weakening of the
disease, weapons and armor are too heavy to wear. It is not
contagious, and is only fatal in severe cases.
DONF PLAGUE
A fatal plague, it is the most contagious antigen in the game. It
strikes every system of the victim, making them unable to fight,
sleep, eat, or drink. The victim will wander about randomly as
their mind is clouded by the plague. After 4 days of the disease
the victim will suffocate and die.
