COLLECTIBLES
NAME
collectible items for hobbyists
DESCRIPTION
Collectors in Alyria can find worth in nearly anything, provided suitable
rarity or uniqueness. Some adventurers hoard strange items found on their
travels, or iterations of ordinary items with notable differences. Many
ordinary Alyrians, not so taken with exotic treasure, prefer pedestrian
collectibles such as stamps, or collectible plates.
Such collectibles may be acquired from anywhere, and when collected are
safest deposited into an appropriate receptacle. Many homemakers prefer
to stash their dishes in a portable armoire in an unused corner, whereas
stamp collectors typically buy their stampbooks directly from the postman.
The unknown entity that manufactures plates, and there are a great number
of variations, issues plates commemorating special events, important
people and all manner of other things. There are notably fewer stamps
variations, but collecting either is an exercise in patience and
calmness, as it often takes a long while to acquire a full collection-
the very traits that folk often credit the Powers with viewing favorably,
and rewarding practitioners of.
The specially constructed armoires and stamp books each have slightly more
room for their designated collections than are necessary, to accomodate
accidental duplications; the stamps stick in the books once inserted, and
plates are rolled into reinforced slats in the armoires, resulting in an
inability to get them out once inserted. The receptacles are inflexible
enough to only allow for a few erroneous insertions, after which there
will be insufficient room for a full collection, and should a full
collection be desired, a new collection will have to be started.
