DESCRIPTION
In the interest of promoting sportsmanship and fair play,
Lord Agrippa of Rune, Lord Vendredi of Sigil, and Lord Vashir
of New Rigel funded the construction of a magnificent arena,
whereby Adventurers can promote and progress in their skill
and strategy development.
The Capture the Flag Arena is located on an island off the
northwest coast of Beltane, and is available to Adventurers
of 61 total levels or greater.
Two teams play in Capture the Flag, a Red Team and a Blue Team.
Whichever team you are on is up to you. Obviously, you cannot
attack members of your same team.
Capture the Flag is set in an area with two keeps on either end
of a winding pathway. There are multiple ways to enter each
keep, as well as multiple ways to traverse the winding pathway.
Within each keep is a Flag Chamber, which contains either the
red team's flag, or the blue team's flag. To score points you
must take the opposing team's flag from their Flag Chamber and
drop it in your Flag Chamber.
Depending on the settings established by the player who started
the game, the game will end once either team has captured the
opposing team's flag a certain number of times, or the time
limit for the game has expired.
STARTING A GAME
To start a game, you must be in the registration room, which
is the Gargoyle Gate room before the Capture the Flag Arena.
Use the CTF START <red or blue> command to start the game,
where <red or blue> is the team color in which you wish to start.
You will then be asked a series of questions that will set the
options for the game (see below for a list of the options).
Once you have answered the questions, enrollment for the game will
begin. Players have 10 minutes to join the game before it will
be cancelled. Once enough players to fill both teams have joined,
the game will begin automatically.
JOINING A GAME
To join a game, you must be in the Registration Room, and a game
must have been started and in the enrollment phase. Type
'CTF JOIN <red or blue> [<password>]' to join a game on the red
team or the blue team. If one team is already full, obviously you
cannot join on that time. Try the other team.
You must have the required amount of gold either on hand or in
your default bank account to join a Capture the Flag game. Required
gold is set by the player who started the game.
If the game requires a password, you must enter it to join.
PLAYING THE GAME
Strategy is key in winning at Capture the Flag. Sure, you can
just wander around killing anyone you see, but chances are your
opponents will be able to slip past you and steal your flag.
The arena area is small, about 100 rooms, on purpose. This is
so you can get to learn the area well, figure out key locations,
and set up strategies based on the rooms.
Some suggestions are:
1. Post your most powerful player(s) in the Flag Room for your
keep, and send your fastest player(s) to capture the other
team's flag.
2. Lay snares and other traps before your keep, to slow down
approaching enemies.
3. Listen to the Gargoyle who guards the back balcony to the
keep. He will inform you if he sees someone scaling the
wall.
4. Post hidden players along the path, to look for incoming
enemies and thus warn other team members.
SANCTIONED GAMES
Sanctioned games are games that have been approved by the
Immortals. Immortals will only Sanction a few games each week,
so do not be surprised if you are rejected. Sanctioned games,
depending on the difficulty, can result in practice or questpoint
rewards, depending on the choice of the Immortal.
Having a game Sanctioned means that the Immortal thinks that
the teams are a close enough match that a reward can be given
to the winning teams. The Leader of the Winning Team (the Leader
is the first person to join a specific team), will also get
a team trophy that may be placed in a house or clanhall,
depending on the Leader's choice.
SUB-COMMANDS
The following sub commands are available:
REQUEST <min level> <max level> - sends an automated message over the
game channel to anyone listening and notifies them of your
desire to begin a CTF game with players of <minimum level> to
<maximum level>. Minimum and maximum levels must be a number
from 61 to 241.
START <red or blue> <minimum level> <maximum level> - initiates the CTF
begin game sequence, in which you are asked several questions about
the various options that are available for that particular game.
Minimum and maximum levels must be a number from 61 to 241. You must
be in the game registration room (the entrance to the CTF arena) in
order to use this command.
CTF options are as follows:
Time limit - The amount of time before the game will end. This is in
real life minutes and must be from 20 to 60 minutes.
Captures - The number of times a team must capture the opposing team's
flag in order to win the game. This must be a number from 1
to 12.

Cost - The amount of gold it will cost each player to join. This gold amount
is put into a pool that will be divided amongst the winning team
(25,000 - 5,000,000).
Magic - Whether or not magic is allowed during the game.
Unstable Magic - If magic is allowed, you will be presented with this
option which gives magic a greater chance of backfiring.
Traps - Whether or not the teams will be able to use traps.
Clan Teams - Whether or not you wish to restrict players from joining
unless they are in clans.
Password - The password, if you wish to password protect the game (useful
for private CTF games).

are still waiting for players and no one has yet joined.
JOIN <red or blue> - joins a CTF game on the specified team that is
currently accepting players and has available slots.

(3)
Once you learn the terrain, this game is most fun when played with fair teams.
Occasionally, the CTF game may be sanctioned, meaning that the winning team will receive a trophy, experience points and practices in addition to winning the gold.
When in CTF, do not worry about equipment 'sparking' when you put it on.
Carry many reagents and extra weapons.
Make sure you have at least 50 pebbles and preferably 1 stone free in your inventory so that you can rescue and carry the flags.
If you die during a CPK CTF match, all of your nouncurse equipment will disapear from your inventory. It will not be left in your corpse, however. You can get it back by QUITting from the game and logging back in. (You will have to wait until the CTF game is over in order to do this).
