BROKEN BONES and BONESETTING
Fundamental School Complexity Rating: 1% Beginner Classes Allowed: None
NAME
broken bones and bonesetting
DESCRIPTION
Broken bones are a rarity in Alyria, given the prevalence and quality of
clerics' healing spells, but they do happen. Occasionally a broken bone will
be too badly fractured to repair on the battlefield, and until it is set, it
will hamper the injured's performance.
A broken leg will prevent an adventurer from regenerating much stamina, will
severely reduce their existing stamina, and curtail their strength and
agility. A broken arm will reduce an adventurer's accuracy, strength, agility
and ability to regenerate hit points. This effect is magnified when the
broken limb is the adventurer's primary one; a right-handed adventurer will
be more inconvenienced breaking their right hand than a southpaw would be.
Because truly broken limbs are so rarely encountered in Alyria, and actual
medical practice is primitive, bonesetters are few and far between, but they
do exist. Those sawbones that practice their art are the very best, due to
the specialization of labor that they enjoy, and can frequently set and
repair a broken limb in minutes.
