ARCHON
NAME
archon - information about the Archon class of Alyria
SYNTAX
archon
archon talk <message>
archon deposit <amount>
arct <message>
DESCRIPTION
Once a player reaches level 60, total level 240, they are considered to have
achieved everything possible within the ordinary class system. They may
petition a questmaster to undertake the challenge presented by the Domain of
Arbaces, a treacherous dungeon located within the Proving Grounds on Irda
Isle.
Heroes who are able to battle their way to the bottom of the Domain are
eligible to become Archons, an elite rank above that of Hero. Archons exist
outside of the normal confines of the class system, advancing not across the
normal 1-60 range, but starting at 61:241 and advancing towards 241:241 via
Archon Points.
As a benefit of reaching the rank of Archon, adventurers reaching 61:241 are
granted attribute maximums 2 above previous, and vital stat maximums 1000
above previous. In addition, they are granted access to special spells and
knowledge of esoteric spells that no regular classes receive.
Archons' supremacy does not come without a cost, however. A fearsome race of
otherworldly hunters known as the Ithrix hunt Archons for sport, teleporting
to Archons at will and attempting to kill them. Elite Ithrix known as Archon
Hunter Masters are even stronger, and are powerful enough that often groups
of several Archons are required to survive battles against them. The Ithrix
are frequently difficult to kill, but Archons that persevere will be rewarded
with the Archon Points that they use to advance. Archon Hunters, when
defeated, will leave behind tokens that can be turned in to an Archon Master
for rewards of practices, questpoints, and other crass lucre.
In order to become a member of the Archon class, Heroes must undertake the
Test of Arbaces. Access to the Domain of Arbaces can be granted by any of
the world's questmasters, but only one Hero can undertake the quest at a
time. Once a key to the entrance has been given out, another will not be
available for a few hours. Heroes are advised to be careful with their
keys, since they are quite fragile and easy to lose.
The entrance to the Domain can be found deep beneath the Proving Grounds
on Irda Isle. In order to complete the quest, an Adventurer must
collect nine different artifacts to prove their worthiness. Once this
has been accomplished, the mysterious Key of Arbaces will be bestowed upon
the Hero, and once they have returned it to a questmaster they will be
made an Archon.
If a Hero is killed during their quest, they don't necessarily need to
seek out a new key to re-enter the Domain. Those who have earned at least
one artifact can return to the Domain and ask to "enter," and they will be
allowed back inside after a period of time.
An Archon's primary attribute is PERSONALITY.
ARCHON TALK <message> will allow you to communicate on the global
chat channel, Archon Talk, with all other Archons in the game who
have the channel enabled. If you wish to turn off the channel, see
HELP CHANNELS. ARCHON TALK may also be abbreviated to ARCT.
ARCHON DEPOSIT will deposit archon tokens with the Archon Master,
who will then give you a reward. Archon Tokens are obtained from
defeating Archon Hunters and Archon Hunter Masters.
