ALIGNMENT
NAME
alignment - information about the affects of character
and object alignment
DESCRIPTION
Alignment describes a tendency for good or evil, or somewhere
in between. It is represented by a number ranging from -1000
(Chaotic Evil) to 1000 (Lawful Good).
The different player races have certain alignments associated
with them. When a player's alignment gets too far from the racial
norm that player will begin taking massive damage until they
return their alignment to a normal range. Dying at the wrong
alignment will cause a player to remain shades longer than
normal.
If a current class Paladin obtains a negative alignment he/she
will not be able to cast any spells until their alignment is
restored to a positive number.
Some articles of equipment may have an alignment value assigned
to them. The greater the difference between the alignment of the
player and any equipment they are trying to use the less usable
that item will be.
Undesirable effects may occur when attempting to use equipment
that is not of the correct alignment.

Alignment refers to what sort of mobs you kill. Reputation refers to the player characters you kill. Kill evil mobs for a good alignment and evil mobs for a good alignment. Alignment and reputation might be very different. A good-aligned paladin could be an outlaw or an evil-aligned fey could be a saint.
