This staff is made of bone, apparently from some larger creatures' tibia. 
Whatever it was probably wasn't killed by the bridge troll; judging by the
length of the leg bone, it would've been several rods long.  Not quite a
walking stick, this is probably used more like a cane.  Runes run the length
of the polished, smooth bone.  They looks like healing runes, but not purely
trollish- there seems to be some faerie characters mixed in.  This may
produce an unexpected result, but surprise is the spice of life, after all.
