It has strings and is generally lute-shaped, but the similarity ends
there.  The long, slender neck has lines of what looks to be mother-of-pearl
spaced regularly, about a finger's width apart along its length.  The body
is round, like a drum, but not deep.  It also seems to have twice as many
strings as a lute and the strings are much finer and seem to be made of
metal.
