This well-worn and salt-stained tome contains many helpful and interesting facts on navigation. Beyond the list of names and personal 'attributes' scrawled crudely on the inside cover, in the handwriting of the previous owners of this book, lie the following chapters: I. Learning the Ropes - Before ye takes your ship to sea, learn to rig the sails, tend the anchor chain, set a course, scan the horizon, and bung her hull for leaks. II. Training the Crew - Practice your tacks and trimming your speed, 'till ye can turn on a dime with a quick command and stand to and drop anchor at the pipe of a whistle. III. Keep a Weather Eye - Mind the winds and read your sextant, boyos, mark your course on your charts so ye can steer clear of the rocks. Tack before the headwinds and look smart when you stand helm. IV. When sailing in Strange Waters - or pulling into foreign ports, reef yer sails and coast along the shoreline. Drop anchor in sheltered bays and send the crew ashore in the longboat. V. Common Sense - Keep yer eyes to the sea, laddies, and yer hands to the hawsers, and let the wenches tend to thee, if that's their game. Yarrr!
