This book looks quite worn and tattered, and it seems to chronicle
someone's journey through the desert.  Flipping through the pages, you come
to the last entry:
 
I have been lost in this desert for many years now, surviving on only the
small animals I can capture for food.  There are some strange items to be
found here, but much of what I have discovered is of no value to anyone.
Through all my travels, I have not yet come across the fabled gems that
arise from deep within the desert sands.  They must simply be a myth after
all.
