A long, S-shaped tube of brass, the saxophone is a melodious instrument.  
The tube is very narrow on one end of the 'S' where a wooden mouthpiece is 
fastened.  The other end of the tube bells out into a bowl-like opening.  
There are three sets of buttons and levers arranged ingeniously around the 
instrument, so that pressing on the buttons or levers will cover or 
uncover variously placed and sized holes dispersed across its surface.  
Fastened to the mouthpiece is a small, thin sliver of wood that vibrates 
when air is blown across it into the mouthpiece.
